FSAE Italy 2024 - Varano de' Melegari

From September 4th to 8th the Firenze Race Team participated in the Formula SAE Italy competition at the Varano de’ Melegari circuit. The team faced a series of technical, dynamic, and static tests with the car we designed. The days were marked by intense moments of challenge, where the team showcased its dedication and engineering skills, competing against other university teams in an atmosphere of great competition and team spirit.

DAY 1 On our first day in Varano, we hit the ground running to set up the pit and the car as quickly as possible. Then, we dived straight into the technical inspections. There’s still a lot to do, but we’re energized and ready to tackle the upcoming challenges!

DAY 2 Second day of Formula SAE!
Busy day, where we supported the Business Plan presentation, the Cost Event and the tech for Tilt Test and Noise Test. The day finally ended with the second Business presentation at the finals, where the three finalist teams had the opportunity to present their paper again in even more detail.

DAY 3 We started off strong right away, passing the Brake Test, the latest mechanical tech. Then we took the Design Event, where the judges wanted to learn more about the solutions and design criteria used for our FR-24. Finally, we moved on to the last stage of driverless tech inspections.

DAY 4 Day dedicated to the preparation and conduct of driverless tech. Our guys in the autonomous departments gave their all to ensure that the car was ready and able to support the tech inspections, first from a standstill and then in motion.

DAY 5 We have concluded this fantastic journey. To have seen the FR-24 move into autonomous mode, for the first time at an official event, was a huge and unique thrill. Special thanks are due to all our boys and girls, both those who were in the competition and those who followed us from home, who gave their heart and soul to this project. Huge sacrifices were made and we couldn’t be prouder, without them none of this would have been possible. We win together, we lose together, we get emotional together! Thank you!
